There were members and non-members present, and several people who expressed an interest in contributing but couldn&amp;#39;t make it on time. I will try to get a full &amp;#39;compte rendu&amp;#39; of the meeting can be found at the bottom of this page, but the following is a summary of the important points. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;1. Who are we trying to reach with an association for &amp;quot;bilingual&amp;quot; children? It was brought to our attention that some people felt that ABC was not applicable to them because they are not &amp;#39;bilingual&amp;#39;. For our purposes, bilingual also means bicultural and binational and is applicable to anyone who is interested in interacting with people in languages other than their native toungue. So this means foreigners living in France, and learning French; mixed families (one francophone parent and one foreign parent) as well as completely francophonefamilies who might want to learn a second language. It also meanspeople who work with families... i.e., schools and day cares... whomight want to know how to better serve bilingual families or help themintegrate. The focus is on children of all ages, though it is true that we have a special focus on the under 6-year old crowd because there are so few activities for this age group in the area and that is when language development is so important. Also, as mentioned above, with the limited amount of resources (human and financial) that we have right now, we can&amp;#39;t do everything that we would like, but it would be great to designate volunteers to help develop activities for different types age groups/languages/family types. Again, we have a great opportunity to use the facilities at the MJC, we just need more people who can give their time to do so.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;2. The MJC is a good opportunity for us, but if we want to keep organizing activities we need to haveinsurance, so we will have to begin fundraising activities soon. Thismeans, first of all, having people become members of the associationfor an annal fee, which we set for the time being at 15 euros per year. We can try to keep this amount low by holding fundraising events and applying for grants with the city and other organizations.
